“We are desperate to fill this emptiness, but the soul tells us, if we listen to it, that this absence can never be filled.”* ~ John O’Donahue
I cried a little when I read this quote the other day. It brought up how I’ve been desperate to belong all my life and the statement that “this absence can never be filled.” hit me as being true and heartbreaking at the same time.*
Don’t we run around doing all we can to fill the emptiness most of our lives?
Can I just be with the emptiness and not try to fill or fix whatever surfaces?
