My spiritual director send me this poem and audio that he thought spoke to a recent session we had together. The blog is called "Learning to Linger."
Lately, it seems I am reminded almost daily to not try and figure out or transform my pain and to just be with it. This poem was another reminder.
Here are the first few stanzas (is that what you call them?)...
Having loved enough and lost enough,
I am no longer searching,
just opening.
No longer trying to make sense of pain,
but trying to be a soft and sturdy home
in which real things can land.
These are the irritations that rub into a pearl
