I woke up grumpy, angry and concerned. Time for a shift!
Hints…
The air. The ocean air. I feel a slight breeze.
Water droplets from the rain hit the still
surface of the water.
Mountain mist in the hills across the bay.
Be open. Just be open.
Wait.
Be open and wait.
Don’t try to force the hand of the universe.
Even nothing is something.
May nothing be enough.
Later in the day…
I’m feeling a strong conviction
about gratitude later in the afternoon.
It’s a conviction that has been building.
Sometime during the weekend
I thought judgmentally about someone else
and how it would be really helpful for them
to practice gratitude.
Now, I’m thinking I should
look at the fingers pointing back at me.
Heavenly Musings
Kathleen had a bit of a vision of her sister choosing heaven yesterday. As we sang the song, "How Great Thou Art" at our Sunday Gathering she could see her sister turning toward heaven and away from her earthly existence. She sensed her sister Mary had a desire to be with us, but heaven was so beautiful, and her desire to be with God was so strong that her sister was compelled to go that way. It wasn’t like Mary didn’t want be with us, it was that heaven was so incredible.
Personally, I am unsure these days about what happens after we die, but it would make sense that if there is a heaven being in the presence of the Creator is incredible. Sometimes you hear people who have had near death experiences describe how they were drawn to the light and didn’t want to come back to their earthly life. This was Kathleen's experience in her vision.
We often say to comfort those who have lost a loved one that their loved one is in a better place now and this is how Kathleen described her vision. I thought, yeah, there's a possibility that when people die they go to a better place and that’s not just a trite statement.
Back to gratitude…
One convicting quote that always comes to mind when I think about gratitude has to do with Recovery and how it is said that you can tell someone is beginning to recover if they are grateful. I have so much to be grateful for. We all do.
I think gratitude is the great negativity buster. I know it’s so cliché, but it usually works, that if you are down, count your blessings.
Hints…
Water droplets hanging from bare branches.
Always water droplets.
Maybe water droplets are the Birdsong of winter.
Alway Birdsong.
It’s quiet now.
It's still.
Peace,
Rod
