As you read contemplative and mindfulness literature you’re going to come across the concept of focussing on WHAT IS over and over again.
Focussing on WHAT IS, goes a lot deeper than simply being present. It involves accepting the things that we cannot control or change. These are things like our past, our future, and our constant stream of thinking.
I have been practicing focusing on WHAT IS by accepting things like my personality and the things that I don’t particularly like about myself.
My personality, in particular, is what it is and in my best moments, I accept that. I have tried all my life to try and be someone else and live up to other people’s expectations and it’s so freeing to just let all of that go. This is WHAT IS.
