Appreciate - In the words of Coach extraordinaire Jesse Elder, “that which we appreciate, appreciates” It’s a play on words, but it works!
I invite you to try this (Jesse’s appreciation exercise)…
Step 1_ Think of something you appreciate. When something comes to mind, do what you do to appreciate that thing, even if it is just thinking to yourself “I appreciate that.” Notice how it feels.
Step 2_ Then, dig a little deeper and ask “what do I appreciate about that?” When something comes to mind repeat step 1.
Step 3_ Repeat step 2 and see how long you can go.
I once did this exercise in the car all the way to my former job (30 minutes). I turned off the radio and started to appreciate. I felt so inspired by the time I got to work. What a great way to start the day.
